WHAT IS THE PTA? Oak Forest’s Parent Teacher Association is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization dedicated to promoting the welfare and success of our students. Through the united efforts of parents and teachers, we work to bring the home and the school into closer relation so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education our children. WHAT DOES THE PTA DO? PTA creates a forum for like-minded parents to meet one another and volunteer to contribute to the welfare of our children. Monthly meetings are held with programs to inform, educate and support our parents. Fundraising activities, such as Cookie Dough sales, Fall Festival and Spring Auction, support student field trips, provide necessary classroom resources, and enhance the school grounds. Current PTA projects include the Oak Forest Arboretum, a school-wide recycling program, and an event to raise funds for school computers. WHY JOIN THE PTA? When parents are involved, students achieve more. When parents are involved in their students’ education, their students have higher grades and test scores, better attendance, and complete homework more consistently. When parents are involved in their children’s education their children do better in school, and their school’s quality increases as parental involvement increases. With your help, Oak Forest Elementary will continue to be an Exemplary School with an outstanding PTA! Home Page |
